Joshua Lang x Nike Cortez — Material & Form Study
Developed for REC Philly’s Made ’Em Project
Status: Concept Prototype (Project Canceled Before Sampling)
This Cortez concept was created as part of REC Philly’s design initiative, where eight Philadelphia designers were invited to reimagine a Nike silhouette using local manufacturing. I chose the Cortez for its timeless shape and paired it with materials that reflect my signature approach to texture and craft.
The design features a corduroy upper, a mohair Nike Swoosh, and chocolate brown leather detailing — a mix of softness, structure, and vintage character. This was the first mock-up created before the project was ultimately canceled, so no sample production or further revisions took place.
This piece remains part of my archive as a study in material storytelling and reinterpretation.
Not for sale.
